Ingredients

Instructions

  • Using a serrated knife, slice the bread into cubes ½-3/4 inch in size.
  • Place the cubes into a medium size bowl, drizzle with olive oil and toss to coat. If the bread is very soft it may absorb more oil, in which case you can drizzle a bit more to coat all of the bread.
  • Add the ranch seasoning and toss to coat.
  • Place the bread cubes into the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  • Place the air fryer basket into the air fryer and set to 350°F for 5 minutes. Half way through shake the basket.
  • After 5 minutes, check on the croutons. They should be lightly golden and crispy. If there are cubes that are still soft you can add a minute to the cook time.
  • Once the croutons are finished cooking pour them onto a baking sheet to cool. They will continue to harden as they cool.
  • Once completely cool, transfer to an air tight container. Store at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

This recipe works best with bread that is slightly stale. Fresh bread will absorb more oil and take longer to cook. If the bread is very soft I recommend reducing the temperature to 320°F and extending the cook time by a few minutes, this will help dry them out without burning.
I like using chewier bread, like sourdough, french bread or baguettes, but it will work well with any bread you like.
