Why We Love Tortilla Pizza

We love pizza night, but sometimes we don’t have the time or energy to make a traditional pizza.

This easy tortilla pizza, cooked in the air fryer, is the perfect alternative.  It is a simple recipe and is an eay way to get dinner to the table quickly.

The great thing about this pizza is that the whole family can participate and everyone can make their own personal pizza.

These little pizzas are easy to assemble.  All you need is your pizza sauce and your favorite toppings.  Slices of pepperoni, ham, salami, diced bell peppers, banana peppers, and mushrooms are all great choices.

You can make a supreme pizza with all the toppings, keep it vegetarian with a simple veggie pizza, or make a plain cheese pizza.

Ingredients & Substitutions

For a complete list of ingredients, see the printable recipe card at the bottom of this post.

Tortillas – We find the smaller, 6-inch flour tortillas the perfect size for fitting in the bottom of our Cosori Air-Fryer basket.  You can use smaller toritllas if you like, or use larger ones, depedning on the size of your air fryer.

If you are using a large flour tortilla, you may need to cut it in half to fit.  If you prefer, you can use corn tortillas instead of flour tortillas, or you can use low carb tortillas.

Pizza sauce – You can use your favorite store-bought pizza sauce, or tomato sauce, or make your own.  If you don’t have pizza sauce, marinara sauce is a great alternative.  For different flavors, try using BBQ sauce, pesto or garlic aioli.

Toppings – This is where you can get really creative.  You can use any of your favorite pizza toppings; pepperoni, salami, ham, veggies, red pepper flakes, fresh basil, or anything else you can think of.

Cheese – You will want shredded cheese to finish your pizza, and while shredded mozzarella cheese is our favorite, you can use anything you like. While we normallyl recommend shredding cheese yourself, this recipe will work fine with store-bought shredded cheese.

You can use an italian blend, cheddar, or for an extra cheesy pizza you can use a combination if you like.  We also like to finish our pizzas with a sprinkle of parmesan cheese.

Step by Step Instructions

Preheat the air fryer at 400°F for 5 minutes.

While the air fryer is preheating, top your tortilla with pizza sauce, cheese and toppings.

Pro Tip: We recommend preheating the air fryer for this recipe. Placing the pizza in the warm air fryer will help the cheese melt more quickly and prevent it from blowing off the pizza.

Assembled tortilla pizza, with sauce, cheese and pepperoni on a cutting board.

Place the prepared pizza in the bottom of the air fryer basket.  Cook at 400°F for 4-5 mintues until the tortilla is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.  The cooking time will vary depending on your air fryer, the type of tortilla, and the toppings you use.

Remove the pizza from the air fryer and serve.

Pro Tip: Open the air fryer 1-2 minutes into the cooking time to check if any toppings have blown off. If they have, use a fork to put them back and gently press into the melted cheese. If your toppings like to blow off, try adding a sprinkle of cheese to the top before placing it in the air fryer.
